The first in a series of three professional development seminar sessions for regional (North East) artists, educators and others working with young children and interested in learning about the Reggio approach.
Sightlines Initiative is the UK reference agency for Reggio Children and is responsible for organising study visits to Reggio Emilia, and exchanging information and opportunities between the UK and Reggio. Sightlines Initiative was also responsible for bringing the renowned ‘Hundred Languages of Children’ exhibition to tour in the UK.
The seminar will be led by Sightlines Initiative co director (Emma Pace) and Regional Projects Officer (Chris Holmes) both with extensive experience of visiting Reggio and working with there values and principles.
The seminar will offer a context to understand the history and development of the Reggio approach, the original idea for a new kind of school, how they have developed their theory and put it into practice.
We will also explore the role of the Atelier (arts studio) and Atelierista (arts enabler) which are characteristics of all Reggio Pre schools.4
